Federal Disaster Preparedness

In response to several incidents that have occurred in our city and at the request of many Federal Heights residents, the Federal Heights Fire Department has developed a Residential and Business Lock Box Program to benefit our citizens.

This program provides for the placement of a sturdy, safe, secure lock box containing an access key that can be placed on the outside of your home or business. The box can only be opened by authorized Fire Department personnel. In an emergency the lock box key can be quickly accessed by emergency responders to gain access to the home without causing damage to doors or windows.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, using the model created by the Los Angeles City Fire Department, began promoting nationwide use of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) concept in 1994. Since then, CERTs have been established in hundreds of communities throughout the United States.
