2nd Annual Pinnacle Art Show
Wednesday, 04 June 2008

The City of Federal Heights was privileged for the 2nd year to host Pinnacle Charter School's Art Show event during the week of May 12 which ended with an artwork awards ceremony on May 16th. City Staff (including Permit Technician/Senior Administrative Clerk Teresa Garramone and Community Service Director Pete Visser) assisted the art teachers from Pinnacle (including Amy Marsh and Jessica Conrad) in reserving space and setting up displays in both City Council Chambers and the Community Room at City Hall. The event took several months of coordination and an enormous amount of hard work by the students to produce the various pieces selected and displayed at the City.

"This year's theme is ‘25 Years of Rebuilding Lives: Celebrating the Victims of Crime Act,'" said Kim Dressel, Victim Services Coordinator.  In 1984, inspired by the findings of President Reagan's Task Force of Victims of Crime, Congress passed the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA), which created the Crime Victims Fund (CVF.)  The CVF is funded by fines collected from fines and penalties paid by offenders, and the fund has grown from $68 million to more than $2 billion in the last 25 years.

"Every day in every state, VOCA shows victims they are not alone," said John W. Gillis, director of the Office for Victims of Crime, Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice. "VOCA represents hope, renewal, and a nation that stands behind victims of crime."
